Welcome to the Incorporated Village of Westhampton Beach

The Village of Westhampton Beach is located on the scenic south shore of Long Island, in the eastern end of Suffolk County approximately 78 miles from midtown Manhattan. Westhampton Beach is considered by many to be the “First Hampton” because it was the first village in the Hamptons to begin renting out rooms. Since its origins, Westhampton Beach has been one of the fastest growing communities on eastern Long Island, yet has still managed to maintain its laidback reputation.

The mission of this website is to be a valuable informational resource to our residents and visitors alike. One can find statistics and facts about the village, information regarding some of our local points of interest, as well as contact information for our various departments within Village Government, our elected officials, appointees, and emergency services contacts. We will also strive to have this website meet the Federal Goverment's Section 508 Standards, which will make the site more accessible for individuals with disabilities.

While you are here, be sure to check out the upcoming events list below, in addition to the municipal calendar of upcoming official meetings of the Board of Trustees, Architectural Review Board, Planning Board, and Zoning Board of Appeals. One can also find information on our Village Beaches (Rogers Beach and Lashley Beach), the Marina and Yacht Basin, the Village Green and Gazebo, as well as information regarding the rules and regulations for using these properties.

As another service, we have provided you with a links page to additional resources you may want to visit. For example, one may be investigating what transportation options are available, they could always visit Hampton Jitney for a bus schedule, or the Long Island Railroad for a train schedule.

This website is an evolving tool, and is not only subject to continual revision, but review and critique by those for whom it has been designed. We welcome your suggestions and hope that you enjoy visiting our website.

Also, we encourage you to visit our wonderful community to enjoy our world class beaches, shopping and dining experiences.

Mayor Conrad W. Teller

What is an Eruv?

An ERUV allows followers of the Jewish religion, if they so wish, to break certain strict rules of Shabbat while outside their home with religious approval.

It conveys no rights to trespass on private property. It is a religious accommodation, not a religious symbol, protected by the Constitution. No public funds are spent on the project.

Tenafly, New Jersey, Mayor Ruskin was contacted. This is a community that had a six (6) year legal battle over the establishing of an ERUV. Since the legal challenge, an ERUV has been established for the past 2 ½ years. Mayor Ruskin says it’s invisible and no change in the community has been observed.

A review of our open businesses found none have been asked to close on the Jewish Sabbath or Holy days. This is just another rumor promulgated by E-mail.

A Special public meeting concerning the request for the establishment of an ERUV is set for Wednesday, May 28th, 7:00pm at Village Hall, 165 Mill Road, Westhampton Beach.

Mayor Conrad W. Teller
